How to learn from mistakes- Know your mistakes

How to turn your mistakes into valuable life lessons?

“To err is human”. We all make mistakes, some small and routine, and others massive and embarrassing.

There is a saying in hindi “ Bhul karna na prakriti hai hamarein, maan lena sanskriti, aur sudhar lena pragati” to make a mistake is a part of our nature , to accept it is our culture and to rectify it is our progression. Progressive life is to accept that I made a mistake and to try not to repeat it again and improve in the area that we make a mistake.
We all have made mistakes in dealing with our parents by shouting at them and then regretted. Felt really bad and said I shouldn’t have done that. We all have made mistakes by judging our friend wrongly and then felt, actually it was my fault not his/her.  Possibly we all have made numerous mistakes in our life, especially in the zeal of youth. So the question is

“What have you learned from your mistakes?”

Perhaps everyone might have told you to accept and acknowledge your mistakes and face the consequences. But no one would have told you to keep your sanity in check while dealing with the mistakes. Knowingly or unknowingly, people constantly remind you of a small mistake you did long- long ago.

The impulse to judge ourselves is strong and self forgiveness can be hard. While everyone around you tries to bring your esteem down, it’s very important to adjust your own view of yourself to reflect a positive attitude on your mentality. Don’t invest your mindset into negative judgment because it can tear you into many pieces in such a way that it will take years and years to get back together.
If you want to build something new don’t spend any of your energy trying to tear down the old. Instead, spend all of your time trying to build the new one. Just because you made a mistake or people are laughing at you, that doesn’t make you a failure. And you shouldn’t then let the shame of failure eventually get in the way of learning a valuable lesson.
The kind of mistake you make actually defines you, and that can be uncomfortable sometimes. We often tend to blame others or the universe for our mistakes because it is easier to pass the buck than to take responsibility. But the question is, Are you ready to be better than that? Because until you say “I messed up” you aren’t ready to change.

“Mistakes are part of the learning process”.

Mistakes are part of the learning process

Every mistake we make in life is an opportunity to grow and learn. However, you can’t learn from your mistakes if you can’t acknowledge you’ve made them! Mistakes are a growth opportunity, mistakes can teach resilience. Mistakes let us know what we really want. Owning up to your mistake and taking responsibility is a huge step forward. If you have never made a mistake, then that suggests that you have never tried anything new. Accepting the mistake shows our ability to grow. Of course it does not happen overnight and the process will be different for everyone. Failure can be inspiring and can lead to bigger and better things.

Never let a bad day make you feel like you have a bad life.

Here are some advices for better learning from your mistakes-

  • Positive thinking creates positive results
  • If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, learn to change the way you think about it.
  • Your mistakes and failure should not be your excuse. Make a way out of it.
  • Life doesn’t always give you a teacher, sometimes you have to be the teacher of your own life.
  • It’s important to adapt your views based on your situation.
  • Learn from your mistakes and move on.
  • It’s not the mistakes that matters. Its how you deal with it, what you learn from it, and how you apply that lesson to your life.
